Winds of Change by Asanga Abeyagoonasekera Launched in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO —  A large audience gathered at Alliance Française de Colombo on 10 March 2026 for the launch of ‘Winds of Change’, the latest work by geopolitical analyst Asanga Abeyagoonasekera.

The Chief Guest was Venerable Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thero, Chief Incumbent of Gangaramaya Temple. The book was dedicated to Venerable Dr. Kirinde Assaji Thero and Jerome C. Glenn, founder of The Millennium Project.

The launch featured a distinguished panel discussion reviewing the book, including Prof. Rajiva Wijesinha, a senior political analyst and author; Dr. Jehan Perera, Executive Director of the National Peace Council of Sri Lanka; Uditha Devapriya, a political analyst; and Rathindra Kuruvita, a journalist and Researcher.

Published by the internationally recognized academic publisher World Scientific (Singapore), the book is distributed in Sri Lanka by Vijitha Yapa Publications and is available globally through Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and Waterstones.

Winds of Change examines how Asia’s geopolitical landscape is evolving through major power rivalries, including China’s Belt and Road Initiative, India’s diplomacy under Narendra Modi, and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy, with a particular focus on Sri Lanka’s strategic position.

The book has received international acclaim from prominent geopolitical thinkers. Dr. Parag Khanna praised the work, stating: “Geopolitics – especially in Asia – is as much an interwoven tapestry as a set of discrete power blocs. In this richly detailed and scholarly travelogue, Asanga takes the reader on a journey into the region’s emerging future. This is an essential primer on Asia’s evolving geopolitical order.” Other distinguished figures endorsing the book include former Singapore Foreign Minister George Yeo, Erik Solheim, and several leading international scholars and policy practitioners.
