Ambassador Garcetti: US and India are Poised to Write the Future Together

Global Strat View’s Senior Correspondent, Se Hoon Kim, caught up with US Ambassador to India, Eric Garcetti, and spoke to him about the US- India strategic partnership. Ambassador Garcetti’s comments are below.

To me this strategic partnership is at its base a friendship. It’s not just a calculation. I think there’s a world that undergirds everything we are doing…between two leaders, between two governments, and now increasingly between two peoples, and it’s on all aspects. I call it the four P’s. Peace, prosperity, planet, and people.

Whether it’s making sure that we have a strategic partnership around defense that can create a peaceful world. Whether it’s looking at a trade, economy, technology to create more prosperity. Whether it’s from the seabed to the heavens, looking at ways we can collaborate on climate change on oceans, on space, on planet where the people to people exchanges. Whether it’s education, or what we’re seeing here today, the jobs and skilling.

I think the US and India are just natural friends, and we’re poised to be together a big part of writing the future. So to me, it’s not about one aspect. It’s about how these four P’s can define the future, not just for America and India, but for the world.
